Lancing Tabernacle is more commonly known as ‘Lancing Tab’, we are an Evangelical Free Church. 'Evangelical' means a commitment to believing and living out what God has revealed to us in the Bible, and seeking to communicate the good news of Jesus to our community. We identify with the wider Christian community in the UK through membership of the Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches and The Evangelical Alliance. We have a wide age range and so represent an extended church family.

The Tab family has been meeting in Lancing in some shape or form for over 90 years.  The work began in 1927 through the faithfulness of Louise Wilson, and actively continues today. We have occupied three buildings over the years, starting in a house on the Lower Brighton Road and then a temporary home by Lancing railway station. We moved to our current building in North Road in 1937.  This building has gone through many changes over the years, but the common link is the people, who share a living relationship with Jesus, and want to make the good news about him known in this village and beyond.

We normally meet on Sundays at 10:30am and 6:30pm, but owing to the pandemic, we are currently meeting online.

During the week, we normally have a range of activities for adults, youth and children.  We run Messy Church during school holidays, and have helped to set up a local Foodbank in partnership with other local churches. All those involved in children’s work have DBS checks in place.

The Tab has always had an interest in the wider world, supporting mission work in many countries.  Over the past few years we have enjoyed a partnership with Meadow Grove Baptist Church in Brandon, Mississippi.  We have links with the church in Latvia through Hope for Children and the Latvian Biblical Centre.  One of our Elders, Richard Brunton leads Living Hope Ministries; this work has opened a window on what God is doing all over the world.
