Responding to God
We saw on Sunday morning four ways in which Abram responded to God’s amazing grace: faith, commitment, pilgrimage and worship.
We probably all need to grow in all of these. But it’s quite hard to really pray and work on four things at once. So I find it helpful when I listen to a sermon to try to take away one thing. Maybe you did that on Sunday. But if you didn’t here’s another chance.
Faith:
Abram heard God’s promises and trusted them. Are you trusting God with your life and eternity?
Commitment:
Abram got up and totally committed his and his family’s life. He went all in when he was 75. We’re never too old to make some big steps forward. Could you commit to Sundays, or prayer meetings, or serving in a new way?
Pilgrimage:
Abram lived in a tent because he knew that his true home was heaven. What could help you not to be settled down and comfortable, but be a pilgrim through this life?
Worship: Wherever Abram went (even where everyone else worshipped other gods) he built altars to the Lord. Are you public as a Christian? Could you simply put a Bible to verse on your desk at work?
Having read this blog it would be great to pray right now for yourself about one of these. And if you wanted to pray for me please pray I’ll be a pilgrim.
