Meet the team...

We're all equal and all have a part to play

People are involved in so many important ways at the Tab using the many different gifts God has given. We believe every part of the body has a part to play.

Barnaby   Richard
Barnaby Monteiro - Pastor    Richard Brunton - Elder

Barnaby joined the leadership of Lancing Tab in February 2021.  He loves to help people discover life in Jesus and the Bible.  Before this he did outreach in schools, with university students, then served as an assistant minister.  He's married to Tessa, and they have three children.

Richard was 13 years old when he first found Christ and began to share the news. In 1994 his heart for mission led to the founding of Living Hope Ministries. He is married to Elaine since 1973 who is a true helpmate serving Jesus together. He’s often online preaching to churches across Africa. Click HERE for more information on Living Hope.

Jamie   Dave H
Jamie Atallah - Elder   Dave Hart - Elder

Jamie is married to the quietly amazing Ellie and has four children who are the bee's knees.  He is currently trying to soak up the wisdom and humility of the other elders.  Jamie is sure of his Christianity because it depends entirely on Jesus and has absolutely nothing to do with Jamie.  If you are what you eat he is 94% chocolate.

Dave is married to Karen. He loves to get to know, work alongside and encourage people of all ages.  Dave often reminds us on 1 John 4.11 “since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.”

John   Simon
John Manea - Elder    Simon Withell - Elder

John came to faith as a boy in Romania.  He helps manage a Christian care home, has two small children, and leads a home group.  Life is busy but rich.

Simon is married to Justine and has two children. He has been a secondary school maths teacher for 14 years and is a keen musician. He loves Jesus and enjoys getting involved with church life, including the music team, children's ministry and Bible studies.

Susannah has four teenage children and been a member of the Tab for 20 years. She can usually be found watching them competing in various sports or performing on stage.  She also loves sports and fitness and an avid cook and baker, also chairs the governing board at a local church primary school.

Stephen (Woody) Woodward has spent over 15 years working with children and families in a variety of roles.
He is a dad to 2 girls, husband to 1 wife and
winner of 0 awards for time-keeping.

Asha   Caleb
Asha Carroll - Church Administrator     Caleb Dodson - Church Intern

Asha is married to Aidan and they have a lovely little girl. She grew up in the New Forest but spent her early twenties living in Germany and loves all things German: food, language and culture. On top of this, she loves admin and serving the Lord through helping things to run smoothly. Her prayer is that this would help to further God’s Kingdom, seeing more people come to know Jesus as their Lord!

Caleb has arrived fresh out of school to serve God for a couple of years at the Tab. He can’t wait to be built up to Christlikeness through the amazing and godly fellowship at the Tab, whilst experiencing real life ministry. He is really excited to point young people to the living God who wants them as His children - just like Jesus. Just don’t ask him to point you in the direction of anything on earth - he won’t know.

Ruth   David P
Ruth Gill - Children and Families Worker   David Parker - Deacon

Ruth moved to Lancing in June 2026 to join the Tab as the Children and Families Worker, having previously spent many years in Southampton working in children’s ministry and as a primary school teacher. She loves helping children discover who Jesus is and creating spaces where children and families feel welcomed, known and able to explore faith. Ruth is passionate about seeing the whole church family get involved in helping the next generation know and love Jesus. She loves drinking good coffee and going for a walk by the beach.

David is married to Laura and is a proud father. He has spent his entire life at Lancing Tab. He is happy to serve in the church he loves and is excited to see what more God can do in the church. He believes that Jesus Christ's love and forgiveness is for everyone and prays that more people will experience his grace.

Aidan   Matt
Aidan Carroll - Deacon   Matthew Hart - Deacon

Aidan is married to Asha and is a father to a lovely little girl. Aidan has always loved technology, engineering and education, and now works as an Electronics Engineer at the University of Sussex. As a Deacon he is looking forward to helping the church work smoothly and helping to enable the practical gifts of others.

Matthew (Matt) has spent his entire life in Lancing and has attended Lancing Tabernacle with his family for almost as long. Over the years, it has simply come to feel like home. He is married to Charlotte and has two young children.
Matt believes in using his practical abilities as a deacon to enable the rest of the team to passionately spread the good news, and often finds himself drawing strength in challenging times from 2 Timothy 1:7:
“For God gave us a spirit not of fear, but of power and love and self-control.”

Rebecca   Stella
Rebecca Parker - Deacon   Stella Davey - Deacon

Rebecca has been a Christian for many years. A Funeral Arranger by profession. She has a family who is a source of pride! Her God given identity is as a worshiper so serves in the worship team. As a deacon, for the pastoral care of women, she loves to see God working in people’s lives, as in her own, transforming them in to people they wouldn’t have imagined possible.
"Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we can imagine, according to the power at work within us" - Ephesians 3:20

Stella is married to Peter and they have three grown up daughters. Stella has been a Christian for 45 years and member of the Tab for over 20. She heads up the Pastoral Care at the Tab and works with a lovely visiting team. She has been involved in Sunday School in the past, and now loves being on the Crêche team looking after the smallest ones in the Tab family. Stella has recently rediscovered table tennis and has a lot of fun playing with Tab members and others on a Friday evening.

Barnaby 4 Hello, my name is Barnaby, and I am the Pastor here at Lancing Tab. The aim of this website is just to give you a flavour of who we are and what we're about as a church.

We’re a church for the whole community in and around Lancing. Come as you are whatever doubts and questions you have.

icon3 As a church family, we all face different challenges, but we believe the Bible’s message about Jesus’ love and rescue are what we most need.

icon2 We meet at our building on North Road (next to the Co-op) at 10.30am each Sunday. It’s free and informal with tea, coffee, and kids’ groups.

Sundays...

SundayWEC

Our 10:30am service is simple and informal and normally runs for just over an hour. People wear anything from T-shirts to suits. You are welcome to bring kids of any age.

We do the following:
  • Share news – because we’re a family.
  • Sing – because we love God.
  • Confess sin – because we don’t want to pretend, we’re anything but people in need of grace.
  • Look at the Bible – because that’s how we listen to God.
  • Pray – to ask God for his help.
  • We might have a baptism or take the Lord’s supper - to celebrate Jesus’ rescue.
  • We have coffee afterwards - to take real time together.

What about my kids?

kids

We love having the noise of lively children – so don’t worry!   They stay for the first 15 minutes of the service and then head to some excellent groups. Creche (0-3), and a children's group (3-12s). 12-18s stay in the service but all get together Sunday evenings 5-6:30pm for a chance to eat together, dig deeper into the Bible, play games, ask questions and grow.

Children stay with their parent or grown-up at the start of the service for the welcome, songs and notices. We really value worshipping God all together as a family. At the end of the notices someone will announce that it’s time for the younger members to go to their various groups.

The kids group activities vary depending on the age but usually there is a friendly welcome, bible stories, testimonies, praying, music, craft, drama, fun games, and free play. Please pick your children up as soon as the service finishes.

If you want to get involved in the life of the church and help us make Sundays run smoothly, you can sign up to serve on a team.
