10 ideas for outreach
In our summer specials and through Jonah we’ve been challenged to share God’s heart for outreach. We need to pray for our hearts to become like his, but that will also have some outward results in our lives. I wonder what it will be for you? Please pray about this - outreach is something for all of us. Perhaps one of the suggestions below will give you a concrete step forward -
1) Being open
Take one step to be more open about being a Christian e.g.
-
read your Bible for 2 minutes during your work lunch break
-
put a verse on your desk or in your living room
-
add “Christian” to your Facebook profile
-
get a fish sticker for your car
-
say grace in a restaurant
-
pray with a Christian friend in a café….
2) Invite to church
Think of a friend and pray you’d be able to say “come and see” in the months ahead.
3) New friends
Over the years it’s easy to find that all your friends are Christians. If so, why not join a new club or society or take up a new hobby to make some new friends.
4) Neighbours
How can you take your contact with neighbours a little further? How about an invitation in for a cup of tea? Or mince pies at Christmas? How about meeting neighbours further down the street? Or dropping some homegrown veg or homemade cakes round as an excuse to say hi?
5) Café at the church (1st and 3rd Saturdays, 10-12noon)
Join the team and work at befriending one or two people who come.
6) Up23 (Toddler group 10am Wednesdays)
If you attend why not pray that you could make 1 or 2 friends that go beyond the toddler group e.g. swap numbers, invite for a play date in the holidays, swap some children’s clothes…
7) Prayer (Sunday mornings)
Come and join the pre-church prayer meeting 9.50am at the Tab. We try to pray each week for non-Christians.
8) Tracts or gospels (Barnaby or Derek can provide)
“Our church are keen to give these out to everyone. Would you like one?”
9) Door to door
Ask Barnaby and find a section of Lancing to pray about and seek to visit the homes of perhaps once a year.
10) Run your own Christianity Explored Course at home
Find a time, invite some family or friends, invite Barnaby (or someone else) in to help (if needed).
