Andrew Wilson2018

Pastor's assistant Andrew Wilson

While I grew up at Meadow Grove Baptist Church, I attended First Baptist Jackson for the duration of the four years I attended Mississippi College. I participated in various aspects of ministry as time allowed and was appropriate for the season. When I was a freshman, I served as a greeter occasionally for Wednesday night services. For my sophomore year, I served on a rotating team that helped set up stage and sound equipment. I also helped lead a Bible Study for freshman guys that Fall and went on a mission trip to Alaska. For my junior year, I joined the College Leadership team and assisted with planning and implementing some events. This past year, I continued on the leadership team, helped lead a small group for a month in the fall, and gave a talk at our winter retreat. Throughout my time with FBJ I participated in a weekly college men’s group called “Man Cave.”

My experience in Christian service has been a natural progression from observing my parents all my life. They both model excellently what it means to be attentive to the needs of others and to respond appropriately from a scriptural background. I would say that I derive my thinker/analyst side from my father and my social/engaging side from my mother (although I may seem reserved upon first impression). I’ve participated in several Bible studies and training courses through the years, but I’m beginning to understand that one must learn ministry by doing, which is what I hope to accomplish in the days to come.

During my time here, I would like to come alongside the faith family at Lancing Tabernacle and encourage the body of believers as I learn both from schooling and living amongst you. I like to read, talk, spend time with my family, be funny, watch/play sports, and learn. I imagine that I will do the same things in Lancing. I don’t suppose myself to be any sort of hero, but just another beggar who knows where the bread is. With your gracious welcome, I would love to come walk with you and take others to Christ, the bread of life.
